500 CARTREF A Community Workspace

 Your partnership in 500 Cartref helps us to fund our efforts to reduce the stigma of homelessness, provide crisis care, and housing-first policy advocacy for the unhoused in Utica. An integral aspect of combating the stigma, misinformation and myths that drive the negative public narratives of the unhoused is educating our partners and the public about the facts of homelessness and the humanity of the unhoused while creating a tangible example of truly inclusive community that is safe not only for the housed but also for the unhoused. Partnering with 500 Cartref is more than an invitation to work in an inspiring space, it is a space that will inspire our humanity.

500 Cartref consists of both private and common workspaces in a building with over a 100 year old history built by the Welsh.  One of the legacies of this church is to serve the community around us.  When you rent here you are helping us continue to work in our neighborhood and you have the opportunity to connect with the people we serve.  Our building provides both privacy and community with quiet places for creative reflection or comfortable spaces for conversation.  The building has a working makerspace and art studio which houses a social enterprise ,  Oneida Square Public Art and Design.  The Morrow Warming Center cares for people experiencing homelessness and other issues.  There is a congregation of people all seeking to bring hope to the neighborhood by being good neighbors.  We are working for more than charity but community and so many people find a sense of peace here.  We have a building mind set for both lives and places and our primary art is mosaic, which shows how beauty can come from broken things.
